The Board of Directors

The Board of Traak Systems has an exceptionally strong mix of international and commercial expertise alongside extensive software industry experience.

Aubrey Thompson – Chairman

Aubrey is an accomplished entrepreneurial Chairman and CEO; his 25 years experience includes working in large multinationals and small company environments. He was awarded the prestigious Irish Exporter of the Year Award in 2001 and the Irish Business Achievers Award in 2003. He is Chairman of a number of Scottish technology companies and is a founder member of the St Andrews Entrepreneurial Partnership LLP (StEP) which assists St Andrews University with the commercialisation of its Intellectual Property. He has worked in France, the UK and Ireland in his career to date and is bilingual in French.

Colin Balfour – Founder and Managing Director

Colin has over 25 years industry experience covering a range of companies from small startups to large global organisations with extensive experience in IT sales, marketing and consultancy. His skills and expertise covers a range of software and hardware based solutions, particularly in the data networking and information security fields. He set up Traak Systems with a view to maximise the potential of technologies such as sensor networks and RFID. Colin has a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh, a Diploma in Marketing and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He has also successfully completed the prestigious MIT EDP course.

Nick Felisiak – Non-Executive Director

Nick is an experienced software developer and co-founder of Spider Systems (acquired by Shiva), and former Chairman and CTO of Spider Software (acquired by Artesyn Communications). He is an investor and non-executive director for number of software companies.

Steve Beer – Non-Executive Director

Steve is a Qualified Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) with extensive pan European commercial operations and development experience within consulting, IT and transformation programme roles in outsourcing and business applications. He has high profile board level skills and a successful track record of achievement across multiple industry sectors for major global organisations. Steve was the former head of the consortia behind the London ticketing smart card scheme where he orchestrated the joint venture partners on a £1.2b contract. He also successfully led a team of c400 staff in the EDS Transportation business and drove a business turnaround at Oracle Ireland Consulting.
